Both Kyrene and Tempe Union are preparing for the new school year and the challenges of teaching through Phoenix's hottest months.

As September moves forward, Kyrene and Tempe Union—the two school districts serving Ahwatukee Foothills—are ramping up for the academic year. Fall sports are underway, classrooms are settling into routines, and the usual rhythms of school life are back in motion.
One thing on every administrator and teacher's mind right now is the heat. Phoenix's September and October can be brutal, and keeping students and staff comfortable while maintaining learning continuity is a real challenge. Both districts are monitoring conditions and making adjustments as needed.
If you have kids in Kyrene K–8 or in one of Tempe Union's high schools (Desert Vista or Mountain Pointe), this is a good time to check in with your child's school if you have questions about how the heat is being managed, or if there's anything your family needs as the school year kicks into gear.
