A modern charter school campus
BASIS Ahwatukee once again ranked among the highest-performing schools in Arizona — top 5% overall, with math and reading proficiency both landing in the state's top 1%.
The BASIS model is famously accelerated: subject-expert teachers, heavy AP coursework in high school, and a pace that's a genuine adjustment for transfer students. It's tuition-free and open-enrollment, but it's not a casual choice.
For academically driven Ahwatukee families, having a school of this caliber inside 85044 — no commute to a magnet across the Valley — is a real draw. We talked to current parents about the trade-offs: the workload is heavy, the community is tight, and the kids who thrive there tend to really thrive.
