Kyrene de los Lagos dual-language program opens its enrollment lottery
The Spanish/English immersion academy in Lakewood draws applicants from across Ahwatukee. Here's how the lottery works.

An Ahwatukee elementary school campus
Kyrene de los Lagos isn't a typical neighborhood school. As a 50/50 dual-language academy, it teaches half the day in Spanish and half in English, with the goal of full biliteracy by 5th grade — and it's open-enrollment, so families from anywhere in Ahwatukee can apply.
That means the lottery. With more applicants than kindergarten seats, de los Lagos runs a randomized enrollment process each spring. Siblings of current students get priority; everyone else takes their chances.
District officials say interest has grown steadily — biliteracy is increasingly something East Valley parents seek out. If you're considering it, the application window and lottery dates are posted on the Kyrene district site each January.
