Desert Vista High School is one of two Tempe Union high schools serving Ahwatukee, opened in 1996. With ~2,800 students it's the larger of the two, drawing primarily from eastern Ahwatukee (85048) and parts of South Tempe.
Consistently ranked among the top public high schools in Arizona by U.S. News, Niche, and the Arizona Department of Education. Known for a strong AP program, competitive athletics across all 5A sports, and a robust arts and music program.
Athletic rivalry with Mountain Pointe — the annual Bell Game between the two Tempe Union schools is one of the biggest high school sporting events in the East Valley.
