About Mountain Pointe
Mountain Pointe High School opened in 1991 as the first Tempe Union high school built to serve Ahwatukee. The mascot — "The Pride" — was chosen by the founding 1,100 students from a list of four options.
MP draws primarily from western and central Ahwatukee (85044 / 85045), including the new Upper Canyon master-planned community. Known for a strong fine arts program (band, choir, theatre, dance) and competitive 5A athletics.
The annual Bell Game against Desert Vista is one of the marquee East Valley high school football matchups.
